Plukenetia conophora 5.5 inch square pot

Family: Euphorbiaceae. Common Names: Nigerian Walnut, Awusa.  Large seeds are edible after roasting or boiling. May have a bitter aftertaste.  Seeds are high in oil which can be extracted for numerous uses.  Vigorous vine that will need support.  Native to tropical rainforest of west Africa; I doubt that this species will tolerate cool temperatures.  Seems to be very easy to grow. Full sun to light shade.  Use a balanced fertilizer with micro-nutrients.  Growth is rapid in warm weather and vines may reach a large size in a single season.  Outdoors in Zone 10B or 11 and higher.
