Posoqueria maxima (5.5 inch square pot)
Rare. Probably the largest member of the genus. White fragrant flowers have a calyx tube about 1 ft. long. Large leaves. The unusual translucent seeds about the size of jelly beans; do Not eat the seeds. Best in shady humid conditions when young. Keep in a protected location since windy conditions will damage the large leaves. Requires a rich acid soil high in organic matter. Use a fertilizer that contains iron and magnesium to maintain deep green color. Not expected to tolerate cool or cold conditions. Outdoors in Zone 11.
Family: Rubiaceae. Related to Gardenia and coffee.
